Who I am:

Just a normal down to earth Western Cape boytjie that had to work hard, have patience and determination to get to where I am today.

I see it as a privilege to be able to have the ability to compete as a bodybuilder and still have a well balanced and full life.

By balanced I mean have time to better once self in all other aspects, make time for family and friends, never take things for granted, be a humble and a good sports men no matter how good of well known you become.

My motto: ”Never forget your roots and who helped and believed in you when you started out, giving all thanks to your Maker”.

The bodybuilding road to now:

I have been training on and off since high school(early 1990’s), that time it was just to assist me with my kickboxing.

Stopped the kickboxing and got introduced to Nelson Benjamin in 2000, between Nelson and Husain at the Health and Squash gym my bodybuilding path started, took part in my first IFBB show in 2001 and won the IFBB Cape Classic novice division.

Then in 2005 I entered the IFBB WP show under the guidance of Mary Pulito as a welter weight and placed third, going on to compete at the IFBB SA championships and placing 7th.

Then in 2007 the first classic bodybuilding division was introduced at the IFBB shows, I competed, winning both the WP and SA classic bodybuilding title.

In 2008 I competed, winning the WP classic bodybuilding title and placing second at the SA’s in the classic division.

In 2009 I won both the WP and SA IFBB classic titles and was selected to represent South Africa at the IFBB world championships being held in Spain end of December.

Roman Chair – Gym Equipment

What is a Roman Chair ?

The Roman Chair exercise is a type of lower-back hyperextension performed to strengthen the lower back, especially the erector spinae. This is accomplished by the chair holding the person in place as he/she bends at the waist and then extends their body upwards.

Enter into the chair, with the pad supporting the front of your upper thighs and locking the lower leg (typically at the ankle or heel) and bend forward at the waist. As you bend forward, your upper body will become closer to the ground. When you have bent as far as comfortable, use the muscles of your lower back to straighten your body, extending your upper body upwards. Many people at this point extend to the point of a hyperextension curving their backs beyond typical straightness. Great care must be used during this exercise as the lower back can easily be injured. People new to the roman chair exercise should consult a fitness professional.
